Read. This is exclusive.
Many students who jhave finished taking SPM get confuse n some of them didn't know where to proceed their studies and how to manage their time beneficially during leisure time (Imean while waiting for the result).
So, I will brief an explain roughly in my viewpoint and little experience about how to choose n proceed our studies so that it will be in the right way.
I break them into three places. One Darul Quran. One pondok.n the other is for those who want to proceed their studies straight to universities or overseas etc.
DARUL QURAN
Darul Quran is a place where, as we all know, to memorize Quran.There are 3 courses of studies:
1- Persijilan (one year and half)
2- Diploma (3 years)
3- Ijazah (don't care)
Persijilan is totally memorizing Quran. 7 students from INTEJ got the offer to enter DQ for year 2012 but it'll depend on the students to choose them or not. There are also minor subjects such as:
-understanding Islam(1 hour/week)
-tajwid (3 hours week)
-english (3 hours/week)
If I'm not mistaken. Maybe some you'll keep asking 'sikitnya subjek' but you must know that memorizing Quran in one year n half is actually impossible! I mean for those who have not ever memorize it before this. That's why persijilan's graduates and students have low quality in memorizing Quran because one year and half is seriously the shortest year in memorizing and the worse one is we have been doctrine with secularism and our mind is hurtly damaged now with many 'maksiat' and sins we do. It make our effort in memorizing become difficult. I admit it.
Actually, for those who want to enter and study in Darul Quran, you must clarify your vision why you want to proceed your study there. It's really important. Our objectives will determine everything. It affects our result and complicate our life. My suggestion, if you want to study in DQ, clarify your intention back.
"TO LEARN MORE ABOUT ISLAM AND RAISE YOUR COMPREHENSION ABOUT ISLAM"
Otherwise, the trouble will come and maybe you will difficultly survive there and ultimately didn't finish memorizing Quran when JPA's scholarship come et cetera. For those who want to proceed with science courses, Make this solehah platform to mature and sharpen our mind. Mature ourself about our religion. If you enter DQ just for the title etc, forget it and find other platform. Don't make huffaz as a slander.
PONDOK
Actually, there are many other platform where we can raise our understanding about Islam. For instance, go to pondok. Not every student who enter DQ will become good and pious. Pondok is such a wonderful and very beneficial platform to raise our comprehension about Islam. If you'll didn't believe, ask Shafie Abd Ghani. he had the experience learning there if I'm not mistaken. That's why he can survive in INTEJ.
Take note that
-Islam is the highest and none is higher than Islam. [hadis]
-Learning about Islam is WAJIB from time to time.
Stay and have a class in pondok for at least one week is enough I think for you'll to open ur mind about Islam so that you'll will recognize that you'll learn only 'surface' about Islam during ur school period(17 years being attacked and breathing in a secular atmosphere!). Pondok is a place where we learn Islamic creed, fiqh, hadith, dakwah etc. There, we will 'tadah kitab' and our ustaz there will explain about the kitab.
Pondok in Baitul Qurra’, Sungai Udang as example provide two types of education. First for those who want to learn and tadah kitab for 3 years n proceed learning kitab with ulama' in Yaman etc. It's very, very wonderful! I really dream about something like that before this. Secondly, it provides a daurah. Daurah is such a programme hold for about 2/3 weeks n we tadah kitab there. some of them exist in 2/3 days depend on the thickness of the kitab.the interesting thing about the education is we can ask ustaz there for any of our misunderstanding and insha-Allah they can answer them as ustaz-ustaz in pondok most of them graduates from Middle East and they had experienced in learning with ulama' contemporary etc and some of them have sanad which connect until Rasulullah SAW.

UNIVERSITIES, OVERSEAS ETC
Proceed studies directly to university is a mistake ans one hasty step for those who think that they didn't get the complete knowledge about Islam (I mean 'mendalam' and not by its surface only). That's why many students from secular schools (think by yourself) involve in coupling viruses, drugs, etc. It's seriously a great lost. Happen just because of lack in comprehension about Islam etc.
For those who think their faith is strong enough and they can survive although while oversea in Western countries (I mean for those who want to proceed in science stream), you can keep your original plan. But I strongly suggest you'll to build your maturity of thinking and understanding about Islam although for a short time before you'll proceed your worldly subjects.
Note that:
- Ilmu terbahagi kepada dua iaitu fardhu ain dan fardhu kifayah. Fardhu ain wajib dituntut dan difahami secara mendalam yakni bidang agama and bidang sains dsb merupakan fardhu kifayah. Don't ever dream to proceed ur science course if your comprehension about islam are very dry, shallow and superficial. (a reminder for me too)

Last but not least, plan your life systematically. Seek advice from your family, teachers, seniors, ustaz, ustazah etc.
It'll depend on ourselves.
Be a person who can design the pattern of condition in the crowd of society (pattern of Islam and good things I meant).
Not when we enter a good platform it'll will be change and we will become good. It's just a catalyst and booster.
Use chance in front of you in a right way. Grab it if you really convince that from the chance you can go far and design your way of life in a right way.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE WAY THAT YOU'LL CHOOSE AND THE THING THAT YOU'LL DO ARE BASED ON QURAN AND SUNNAH.
Otherwise, PARAHLAH HIDUP KORANG.
